If you didn't receive our email over the weekend about Melek-Tha & Nazxul's "Left Hand Path" album and t-shirts, then your email isn't working! DARK AMBIENT ... LIMITED RELEASE! Hypnos is pleased to announce ´Bathys,´ the first appearance on our label (in this case, our Hypnos Secret Sounds imprint) of Darkened Soul. The word ´Bathys´ in Greek translates as ´deep,´ and the rest of the titles here continue the Greek language theme. It´s the root of the word ´bathyscaph´ which is a submersible vessel for deep sea exploration. ´Deep´ is relevant here, as this recording collects resonant dark ambient sounds into aural mixtures deep and spacious. This aural journey is evocative of a subterranean trek through wet, metal-walled tunnels, with gritty textures underfoot, and dripping sounds of water. Vague hints of machine-like sounds can be heard churning away in the distance. ´Bathys´ by Darkened Soul is an exercise in resonant dark ambient textures. ... Darkened Soul is a psydonym under which Mike Soucy records dark ambient soundscapes. His previous releases have been mostly self-released, though Hypnos followers may have seen his release ´Seasons of Dark and Light´ on Umbra, the Italian label operated by recording artist Oophoi.

Stratvm Terror is the powerful side project by Peter Andersson (aka Raison D´Etre). This re-release includes the original 7 studio tracks PLUS, for the first time on digital format, 3 live tracks recorded in 1998 during the Nursery Injection Festival in Stockholm! The sound is getting more harsh and powerful than on the two previous CD releases. 56 minutes of great and uncompromising power-electronics. Dark and painful sounds with few filtered voices coming from a cold Hell. All implosions treated by: Peter Andersson and Tobias Larsson between 1997-1999.

Formed by aggression and pain, the aptly titled CD ´Pain Implantation´ is probably a good description of the music, given the focus of the approach. Sparse and suffocating atmospheres float forth while distorted sickened tones are injected. The opening track lulls the listener into a false sense of relaxation before the distorted frequencies leap out to reek havoc on the listener´s cerebral area. The music throughout the disc pounds on your skull without mercy and then slows down before the next eruption, ripping through your ears jamming them with feedback and beats tearing the mind apart. Every track has a nerve-grating, tympanic-membrane-agitating attraction, sonically careening off of the interior fortress of the body. Stratvm Terror is Peter Andersson (of Raison D´Etre, Necrophorus, Bocksholm, Atomine Elektrine, etc.) and Tobias Larsson (of Ocean Chief). ´Pain Implantations´ was originally released in 1998 on Malignant Records as the second CD album release of the band. This re-release from Old Europa Cafe, totally refurbished from the original master, with two more songs added, is presented with completely new artwork. Total disc duration is 77 minutes.
